Jack M. Frazier

“Jack the Beard”

Jack was born on November 27, 1942 in New Tazwell, Tennessee. He started drag racing in the late 1960’s at Thunder Bolt, a drag strip between Orange Park and Green Cove Springs, Florida. In the 70’s a friend of his talked Jack into helping him build a track car for Julian Klein. From there he started helping Johnny Whitley build cars and engines for him to race. Also in this time frame a young teenager by the nam of Tommy Riggins hung around and he and his crew built a 6 cyl Ford of Old Jacksonville Speedway. Tommy went in the Navy Reserve for training and left his crew and car for Jack to drive. This was his first real driving experience. He won 3 out of 10 races in Tommy’s car.

From there, Jack went into Late Models and drove for some great people, winning a few races and track championships at different tracks.Early in Jack’s career, he watched and listened to people who knew about cars and racing, but had little money to race with. Marvin Whitener and Buddy Rye were two people who showed Jack hard work made up for the lack of money and made the sport something to be proud of. Jack has been married to Linda foe 28 years. They have 5 children between them and several grandchildren.

ack was inducted into the Jacksonville Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame in 2005.
