Everitt L. Moran, Sr.

Everitt was born January 29, 1907 at Mt. Olivet, Kentucky. He moved to Glen St. Mary, Florida in 1930 to work as a mechanic in a garage owned by J. J. Prible. Everitt later purchased the garage in 1949. He bought his first race car from Oscar Hanks, which was a 1937 Ford Coupe. He fell in love with car racing and he and his son Jerry built and owned race cars until his death.

Some of the drivers who drove for him were, Piggie Bennett, Larry Flynn, Johnny Deavers, Weldon Adams, Pee Wee Hornsby and Rod Eulenfeld. His cars were always very competitive and kept in good condition. They won a lot of races around Florida, Georgia and South Carolina tracks. Everitt passed away November 17, 1978. He was survived by his wife Flora who is deceased, sons, Everitt L. Jr., Jerry R, and one daughter, Ellen.

Everitt was inducted into the Jacksonville Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame in 1996.
